Here’s my offering to the Christmas crochet collection of toys: Adam, the Snowman. The pattern is super simple and you can finish him in a jiffy. Perfect for this very busy time of year.

1. 4 ply yarn in ochre, brown and cream 2. 2.5 m.m. crochet hook 3. yarn needle 4. pins 5. fibrefil 6. scissors 7. stitch markers 8. 6 m.m. safety eyes 9. 2 twigs
1. Head
With cream yarn, 1. Magic circle, 6sc [6] 2. *inc*6 times [12] 3. *sc, inc*6 times [18] 4. *2sc, inc*6 times [24] 5. *3sc, inc*6 times [30] 6. *4sc, inc*6 times [36] 7. *5sc, inc*6 times [42] 8-16. sc all around [42] (nine rounds) Place the eyes, 8 stitches apart,between rows 12 and 13. 17. *5sc, dec*6 times [36] 18. *4sc, dec*6 times [30] 19. *3sc, dec*6 times [24] 20. *2sc, dec*6 times [18] Start stuffing. 21. *sc, dec*6 times [12] 22. *dec*6 times [6] Continue crocheting the body.
2. Body
23. *inc*6 times [12] 24. *sc, inc*6 times [18] 25. *2sc, inc*6 times [24] 26. *3sc, inc*6 times [30] 27. *4sc, inc*6 times [36] 28. *5sc, inc*6 times [42] 29-37. sc all around [42] (nine rounds) 38. *5sc, dec*6 times [36] 39. 3. Carrot Nose
Leaving a long tail for sewing, with ochre yarn, 1. Magic circle, 6sc [6] 2. sc all around [6] 3. *dec*3 times [3] Fasten off. Weave in the tail end.
4. Scarf
With ochre yarn, Ch 8. Sl stitch in the first chain to form a ring. 1. Ch 1, 8sc [8] (continue without slip stitching; in a spiral) 2-5. 8sc [8] (four rounds) For the following rounds, change colour on every round. Alternate between cream and ochre. Don’t cut the yarn- you can pick it up where you left off every alternate round. 6-53. 8sc [8] (forty-eight rounds) The last 5 rounds are worked in ochre. 54-58. 8sc [8] (five rounds) Fasten off. Weave in the tail ends.
5. Hat
With brown yarn, 1. Magic circle, 6sc [6] 2. *inc*6 times [12] 3. *sc, inc*6 times [18] 4. *2sc, inc*6 times [24] 5. *3sc, inc*6 times [30] 6. BLO sc all around [30] 7-8. sc all around [30] (two rounds) Attach the cream yarn. Do not cut the brown. 9-10. sc all around [30] (two rounds) Pick up the brown yarn again. Leave a long tail of the white to attach and then cut. 11. FLO 2sc, inc, *4sc, inc*5 times, 2sc [36] 12. *5sc, inc*6 times[42] 13. 3sc, *6sc, inc*5 times, 3sc [48] Fasten off. Weave in the tail end.
6. Assembly
1. Attach the nose between the eyes. 2. Wrap the scarf around the neck and stitch to keep in place. 3. Attach the hat using the FLO on round 11. 4. Embroider two crosses down the middle of the body to make the buttons. 5. Stick in some twigs to make the arms. Adam the Snowman is ready! Have a very Merry Christmas!
